Meet our Guides

Heather Quinn is an AMS Montessori certified child-guide, Infant/Toddler and Pre-Primary (Birth-6 years) specializing in nature-based outdoor learning and curriculum. She has been a director, lead teacher, and program coordinator for nearly 20 years and is ERAFANS' Level 2 nature-based education certificated. She is the founder of Hummingbird Hill Collective, LLC, providing her community with MSDE-licensed family childcare nature programs as well as MSDE-approved nature-based, early childhood professional development workshops, and conferences. “My fondest childhood memories are saturated in the natural world. My days were filled with hours of outdoor-play making mud pies and dandelion salads for friends, turning over rocks to observe a community of insects, and listening to the unique calls of songbirds. As my love for the natural world grew, so did my understanding of the strong relationship between nature and childhood behaviors. This ecological approach to education and childhood development sparked my desire to create Hummingbird Hill Collective.”

Lisa Mullaney is an AMS Montessori certified Pre-Primary child-guide.  She has 15 years of experience as a lead teacher in Montessori Pre-Primary, Kindergarten, and Elementary first through third grade classrooms.  She is ERAFANS’ Level 1 nature-based education certified and has guided children ages 3 through 8 in an all-outdoor classroom setting.  “Nature has always been an important and beautiful part of my life.  As a child, I was outside as much as possible, whether in our backyard, on family camping trips, or wondering in the nearby woods with friends.  Raising my children and teaching as both a Montessori and nature teacher has reinforced my belief that learning in the early years of childhood is most effective through play and discovery, especially when it is in nature!”
